BJP Trying Old Tricks In Telangana

Bharatiya Janata Party, which had never been part of any government in Telangana till now, does not have the locus standi to seek mandate from the people on the development plank.

All that it can project is the development agenda of Narendra Modi government at the national level but it has no such plan for Telangana.

So, the BJP has no option but to depend on polarising the votes on communal lines. Since the Telangana has considerable number of minorities, the party is planning to play the same old tricks of dividing the votes on communal lines and wooing the Hindu votes.

That is precisely the reason why the BJP is raking up the same old demand for celebration of Telangana Liberation Day officially.

It wants to project that Telangana was liberated from the clutches of Muslim ruler Nizam, due to relentless fight by pro-Hindutva forces like RSS and leaders like Swami Ramanand Tirtha.

As part of the agenda, the Telangana BJP is planning to hold a massive public meeting in Hyderabad on September 17.

It wants to show the people how Telangana chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao, who had earlier wanted the Hyderabad Liberation Day to be held officially, went back on his word under pressure from AIMIM.

The party wants to use the occasion to strengthen its base among the Hindu voters, so that it can go aggressively on Hindutva plank in the next few months.

The party has already attracting Hindus by strongly opposing reservation for Muslims and other appeasement measures being taken by the TRS.

It has made it clear that KCR’s Muslim-appeasing politics will be its main plank for the 2019 polls.
