Acquire lands of wealthy Kamma farmers first

Revenue officials had to bear the brunt of the farmers’ anger at Penumaka and Undavalli villages of Guntur district.

The officials had gone there to pacify and convince the farmers to give up their lands for the construction of the new capital.

The villagers made it clear that they were unwilling to part with their lands. This will destroy our livelihood.

We have been tilling this land for decades. It has been given to us by our forefathers and we will pass on the legacy to our children. We are poor farmers owning small tracts of land from 0.5 acres to 2.50 acres.

"Why is the government targeting only poor and marginal farmers like us who belong to the weaker sections? Why do you not go and acquire the lands of the super-rich Kamma farmers first?", questioned the irate villagers.
