The responsibility of acquisition of land for construction of the new 'Capital' has been entrusted to the 'Joint Collectors' in Andhra Pradesh.
Each ‘Joint Collector’ has been given a target of 5000 acres and he will have to get the farmers to sign the ‘Memorandum of Understanding’ (MOU).
Once the MOU is signed, the farmers would be paid Rs 25000 per anum until the construction of the ‘Capital’ is complete.
The process is expected to be started in a couple of days. However, no permits for construction will be issued until the entire process of land acquisition is complete.
Needless to say, this is not an easy task for the ‘Joint Collectors’. Tempers would definitely run high and they will in all likelihood have to be provided with a proper security escort failing which they might be at the receiving end of the farmers’ anger.
