Telugu Girl Dies In A Tragic Accident In VA

A fatal accident that happened Saturday afternoon. Police say a 2002 Honda Accord driven by Sharon Paul, was traveling southbound on Fleming Road, drove off the roadway, over corrected, and crossed into the northbound lane of traffic.

Upon crossing over into the northbound lane, the vehicle was struck in the rear passenger door, by a 2015 Dodge Ram, ejecting the rear passenger, and coming to rest in the woods.

Ms. Sharon Paul, driver, and front seat passenger, were flown to the Peninsula Regional Medical Center in Salsbury, Maryland. The back seat passenger, Thanmayee Yerkala, was ejected and died of her injuries at the scene of the accident.

The driver of the Dodge Ram, J.R. Burton, and his front seat passenger, did not suffer any injuries.

The deceased, Thanmayee Yerkala, 27 year old female of Indian descent, from Castle Rock, Delaware, was not wearing her safety belt at the time of the accident. Notification has been made to family members.

Sharon Paul, driver of the 2002 Honda, was charged with failure to maintain lane.

Tanmayee hails from Hyderabad and is working at JPMC in Wilmington DE as Software Engineer. Sharon Paul, Tanmayee and one more person were going to a picnic spot in VA from DE and met with this fatal accident.

Telangana American Association team led by Rashwanth Reddy, RVP is helping the victims and Tanmayee’s family. Rashwanth will be travelling with Tanmayee’s body to New Jersey tomorrow to ship India.

Telangana American Telugu Association President Elect Mahender Musuku and Executive Vice-President Srinivas Anugu are monitoring the situation to assist the family and any needs.

On behalf of Telangana American Telugu Association President Jhansi Reddy expressed deep condolences to the deceased’s parents, family and friends. May her soul rest in peace.
