LATA Free Health & Wellness Seminar in LA

On October 26th, 2013, LATA (Los Angeles Telugu Association) delivered a Free Health and Wellness seminar for the community at Heritage Park in Irvine, Orange County.

This was an effort to inform and guide the Telugu community about leading a better and healthier lifestyle. In the past three decades heart disease rates have tripled in urban India.

By 2020, according to WHO the expected number of Indian citizens dying from heart disease will exceed 2.4 million, which is more than twice the number in 1990. One in every four cardiac patients will be Indian. What can one do not to not end up a statistic.

Taking a broad outlook, there will be an overview of the subject that will include prevention, healthy life-style that includes diet and exercise.

In order to combat this detrimental situation, LATA invited some of the leading practitioners around the Greater Los Angeles area to speak at this event.

He spoke about common heart problems, issues within arteries and how to control the buildups in the blood vessels to avoid cardiac arrest. He explained that all those issues are connected to the food we eat and workout we do on daily basis. He urged all the attendees that they do at least 30 minutes workout every day. Then he went in detail about Telugu people food habits and how they try to fill their lunch/dinner plates. He suggested that the plate can be filled full but make sure that it will have more vegetables and less rice!
