In a key meeting, A Revanth Reddy, Chief Minister of Telangana, and Christelle Luisier Brodard, Chief Minister of the Council of Vaud, Switzerland, discussed opportunities for cooperation between Telangana and Switzerland.
The talks were held in the broader context of the free-trade agreement between India and Switzerland.
The discussions focused on collaboration in several areas, including culture, education, skilling and training; especially in hospitality management and sports.
Both sides also explored the possibility of sharing best practices in the retail and life sciences sectors.
During the meeting, Revanth Reddy highlighted the Telangana Rising 2047 vision and explained the wide range of investment and development opportunities in the state.
He also proposed the idea of setting up a ‘Swiss Mall’ in Hyderabad, which would be the first such project in the world. The Swiss delegation responded positively to the proposal.
Since both Chief Ministers are football players, they also discussed potential partnerships in sports development.
The Swiss delegation expressed interest in supporting Telangana’s initiatives for women empowerment, particularly through self-help groups.
Confirming further engagement, Isabelle Moret, Minister for Industries and Economy of Vaud, said a Swiss team would soon visit Hyderabad to study the proposed collaborations and investment opportunities in detail.
