Won't come to clubs, pubs: Revanth's sting to KTR

A couple of days after Bharat Rashtra Samithi working president K T Rama Rao led a group of party leaders to the Hyderabad Press Club, inviting Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy for a debate on various issues, the chief minister delivered a sharp rebuttal on Wednesday.

Revanth Reddy, who was attending a PowerPoint presentation on the Krishna waters issue at Praja Bhavan, threw a fresh challenge — not to KTR, but directly to BRS president and former Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao.

He invited KCR for an open debate comparing the decision-making approaches of both administrations.

Without naming KTR, Revanth took a swipe at him, saying, “I’m not interested in going to clubs for debates. Let’s not discuss these matters in streets, pubs, or clubs. I don’t enjoy such places — so please don’t invite me there.”

He called on KCR to join a debate in the state assembly instead.

“We’re ready to convene a special assembly session on any date suggested by KCR. With the Speaker’s permission, we can even invite experts to participate. As the Leader of the House, I assure a peaceful and meaningful debate with no disruptions,” he stated.

Revanth added, “KCR must take part in this debate. I sincerely wish him good health and an active public life. We need his insights and suggestions on matters concerning the state’s development.”

If KCR is unwilling to attend the assembly, Revanth said the government is even willing to hold the debate at KCR’s farmhouse in Erravelli.

“Let’s organize a mock assembly there. I have no objections — KCR is far senior to me. If he invites me, I will definitely attend. He can fix the date, and I’ll send a team of ministers to facilitate it. We can have a detailed discussion at Erravelli itself, ensuring his full comfort,” he offered.

Referring sarcastically to internal tensions within KCR’s family, Revanth said, “There was once a prince in Nepal who killed his entire family to become king. If there are issues within KCR’s family, they should sit down together and resolve them with the help of elders and respected individuals.”

He added, “Now, their family feuds have become public gossip. People are watching the fights between brothers-in-law, sisters, and other family members unfold in full view.”
