Viveka case: Another accused revolts against CBI

With the Central Bureau of Investigation stepping up its probe into the murder of former minister and Andhra Pradesh chief minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy’s uncle Y S Vivekananda Reddy, the key accused in the case are revolting against the Central agency, accusing the latter of fixing them with the connivance of Viveka’s daughter Sunitha and her family members.

On Monday, Viveka’s personal assistant M Venkata Krishna Reddy, one of the suspects in the case, turned the tables on the CBI stating that he was being pressured by the Central investigation agency to give false statement against y S Avinash Reddy and Devireddy Shiv Shankar Reddy in the murder case.

In a complaint lodged with Kadapa Superintendent of Police K K N Anburajan, Reddy also said he was facing a threat from the family members of Viveka’s daughter Sunitha.

He alleged that Sunitha and her husband had also been bringing pressure on him to give false testimony in the murder case.

Reddy said he had worked as assistant librarian in Pulivendula Loyola Aided Degree College and was transferred to Kadapa Arts College on September 17, 2021. He said for 30 years, he worked as personal assistant of Vivekananda Reddy.

He said on the day when Vivekananda was murdered, he had gone to his house in the morning as usual.

“At that time, Vivekananda was sleeping. Suddenly watchman Ranganna came running saying that sir had fallen down. I and Prakash rushed inside and found Vivekananda in a pool of blood in the bathroom,” he said.

Reddy said after 13 days, Yerra Gangi Reddy, Prakash and himself were arrested. “After the CBI took over the case, I was pressured to give false testimony,” he alleged.

However, the CBI charged Reddy with tampering the evidence in the murder of Viveka, by ordering cleaning of the premises before the police arrived.

Dastagiri alleged in his confession statement that it was Krishna Reddy who had taken away Viveka’s mobile phone and the letter purported to have been written by him and gave it to the police later in the evening.

Already, several others, including Gangadhar Reddy from Yadiki in Anantapur district and Bharat Kumar from Pulivendula had lodged complaints with the police against the CBI officials for pressuring them.
