TS Goes Further Aggressive, Doubles Power Supply

The Telangana state looks prepared for head on collision with the Andhra Pradesh government in sharing of Krishna river water.

Even as the AP had lodged a complaint with the Krishna River Water Management Board (KRMB) and the Union Jal Shakthi Ministry, the TS is going aggressive.

It had started power generation at Srisailam first and then moved on to Nagarjuna Sagar reservoir.

Later, amidst protests from Andhra Pradesh, the Telangana started power generation at Pulichintala balancing reservoir with police protection.

The TS government continues to resort to power generation drawing water from the three reservoirs illegally and aggressively.

After the State government lodging the complaint, and the KRMB asking for a tripartite meeting on the issue, the Telangana state went one step ahead and increased the power generation at Pulichintala.

On Monday, the Telangana state doubled the power generation from 25 mw to 50 mw, drawing 9,900 cusecs of water from the Pulichintala reservoir to the downstream.

This doubling of the power generation and drawing of water unauthorised shows that the Telangana is prepared for a showdown with the AP government on the water issue.

It is to be seen with what intention the Telangana is going aggressive on river water sharing, that too in violation of the previous agreements and accepted distribution of the river water between the two Telugu states.
