Telangana Jagruthi founder-president Kalvakuntla Kavitha on Saturday made it clear that she was yet to take a decision on floating a new political outfit in the state as an alternative to the Congress, the Bharat Rashtra Samithi and the Bharatiya Janata Party.
Speaking to reporters at her residence, Kavitha said she had been consulting various sections of people to decide on her political future.
“Before forming a party, my father and BRS president K Chandrasekhar Rao had consulted with hundreds of people. I too am in a similar phase of discussions,” she said.
She said she was the first daughter to be suspended from her father’s party.
“There is nothing wrong in floating a new party. In democracy, anybody can float a political party. For me, the cause of backward classes is dearer to my heart,” she said.
Kavitha further said she wants to work for all sections of society, not just one group.
She described herself as a “free bird” now, claiming that many leaders are meeting her and that she is in touch with a large number of BRS functionaries.
She reiterated that she has no intention of joining the Congress, stressing that she has neither approached anyone in Congress nor been contacted by their leadership.
“No Congress leader has approached me. I don’t know why the chief minister Revanth Reddy is making such comments — maybe he is afraid of me,” she said.
Kavitha once again made sharp comments targeting Harish Rao, accusing him of large-scale corruption in the Irrigation Department during his tenure as minister.
She pointed out that even Harish Rao himself told the PC Ghosh Commission that every decision on the Kaleshwaram project was taken by KCR.
She, however, said except for the Kaleshwaram issue, she had no personal grudge against Harish Rao.
“As early as 2016, I had suggested to KTR that irrigation files were reaching the CM without the scrutiny or approval of lower-level committees,” she sad.
