Senior IAS officer Smita Sabharwal has filed a petition in the Telangana high court seeking to quash the Justice P C Ghose Commission report on the alleged irregularities in the Kaleshwaram lift irrigation project, which held her, along with others, responsible for the scam.
Smita challenged the Ghose Commission report, contending that she was not given an opportunity to present her explanation.
She, therefore requested that her name be removed from the report. She also sought interim orders preventing any action against her based on the findings.
The Kaleshwaram project, constructed during the Bharat Rashtra Samithi government led by former chief minister K Chandrashekar Rao, came under scrutiny after the Congress headed by A Revanth Reddy assumed power.
The government appointed a commission headed by former Supreme Court judge Justice P.C. Ghose to probe alleged irregularities.
The commission submitted its report to the state government in August 2025, which the chief minister A Revanth Reddy also tabled in the assembly recently.
Earlier, former chief secretary S K Joshi also had approached the high court in connection with the same report and secured relief.
Now, Smita Sabharwal too has taken legal recourse, challenging the commission’s findings.
