Sanjay arrest: KCR deliberately provoking Centre?

The arrest of Telangana Bharatiya Janata Party president and Karimnagar MP Bandi Sanjay and the non-bailable cases filed against him are said to be a deliberate strategy of the Telangana Rashtra Samithi government to provoke the BJP central leadership.

TRS president and chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao knows fully well that the arrest of the BJP would evoke sharp reactions from the party both in the state and at the Centre and there would definitely be a counter-attack on his government.

“This is what KCR wants. If the Centre takes any revenge against the state, he would ask the TRS leaders and cadre to launch an offensive against the BJP and trigger the Telangana sentiment so that it would ultimately help the TRS in the next elections,” a political analyst said.

As expected, Sanjay wrote a letter to Union home minister Amit Shah, BJP national president J P Nadda and even to Lok Sabha speaker Om Birla alleging that the TRS government was behaving undemocratically and stern action be taken against the police responsible for his ill-treatment.

In his letter to the Lok Sabha speaker, Sanjay said he had taken up Jagaran programme at his party office in Karimnagar along with a few other party leaders.

He alleged that Karimnagar police commissioner Satyanarayana, with a huge police force, tried to forcefully enter into his office.

“They bought gas cutters to cut the iron grills and police made forced entry and barged upon me pulled me catching hold of my shirt while I was resisting the Police Commissioner who personally caught hold of my collar and tried to pull me,” he alleged.

He said he was also abused and threatened by the Police Commissioner personally.

“As a Member of Parliament, I have some Rights and Privileges it is the duty of the commissioner of police and District magistrate to protect my rights and respect my privileges,” he pointed out.
