Retired Telangana IPS officer to join BSP

It is now official. Former IPS officer from Telangana Dr R S Praveen Kumar, who opted for voluntary retirement six years ahead of his superannuation, is all set to join the Bahujan Samaj Party to test his political fortunes.

This was announced by none other than BSP chief and former Uttar Pradesh chief minister Mayawati in New Delhi on Tuesday.

She told national media that Praveen Kumar had decided to join the BSP to follow the footsteps of BSP founder Kanshiram.

Back home, a statement from Dr S Swamulu, senior resource person of Swaeroes International, an organisation founded by Praveen Kumar, said the retired IPS officer would be joining the BSP on August 8.

A massive public meeting with five lakh people is being planned at N G College Grounds in Nalgonda on August 8, where Praveen Kumar would be joining the BSP and announcing his political plans.

Telangana BSP state coordinator Ramji Gautam would organise the public meeting to invite Praveen Kumar into the party to give fillip to the movement to bring power to the Dalits in the state.

The retired IPS officer is planning to come out with a three-point formula: “Aksharam (education), Arthikam (funding) and Arogyam (health)” to take the Dalit community to a higher social status.

The Swaeroes International called upon the people belonging to SCs, STs, BCs and minorities to come to the public meeting in a big way by spending their own money, as “Praveen Kumar has sacrificed his lucrative job for the uplift fo the downtrodden.”
