Non-bailable warrant against Renuka Chowdary

Former Union minister and senior Congress leader Renuka Chowdary, who has been virtually struggling to sustain her political career in Telangana, is once again in trouble.

On Friday, first class judicial magistrate in Khammam issued a non-bailable arrest warrant against Renuka in connection with a cheating case she had been facing for over five years.

The court took serious note of Renuka not accepting the summons and refusing to attend the case hearings.

Renuka has been facing a criminal case registered against her on the direction of the the court, following a petition from one Bhukya Chandrakala, wife of Ramji Naik, stating that she had cheated her husband who died of mental agony.

Chandrakala said Renuka had taken Rs 1.20 crore in separate instalments from Ramji Naik on the assurance of giving him a Congress ticket of Wyra Assembly constituency in 2014 elections.

“My husband was not given the Wyra ticket and he asked Renuka Chowdary to return the amount. Renuka refused to pay the money and used filthy language against my husband,” Chandrakala said.

She further complained that Renuka’s assistants, Pullaiah, Rama Rao, Ranga Reddy, Pulla Reddy and Dayakar Reddy had allegedly abused Ramji Naik taking his caste name. Ramji died later.

Unable to bear the cheating by the former Union minister, Ramji Naik slipped into depression and died on October 14, 2014.
