Land auction only for KCR benamis, says Revanth

Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee president A Revanth Reddy on Saturday alleged that the auction of prime lands at Kokapet and Khanamet in Hyderabad were aimed at benefitting only benamis of Telangana Rashtra Samithi president and chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao.

Speaking to reporters here, Revanth said the land auctions smack of a massive corruption to the extent of nearly Rs 1,000 crore.

“The land auction was done only to benefit KCR’s benamis, who grabbed the lands for a lesser price, thereby causing huge loss to the state exchequer,” he said.

He said the land value at Kokapat was not less than Rs 50 crore per acre, whereas the government deliberately fixed a lesser upset price only to benefit KCR’s benamis.

“While My Home Group J Rameshwara Rao’s associates bagged 18 acres, Siddipet collector Venkatrami Reddy’s family firm Raj Pushpa got seven acres. Both of them have got the lands at a lesser price,” he said.

The PCC chief further alleged that the Prestige group, which got lands, was closer to KCR’s son and IT minister K T Rama Rao.

“In all, the government would have got Rs 3,000 crore from Kokapet lands, but ended up getting only Rs 2,000 crore,” he said.

He wondered how a piece of land in the same place was auctioned for different prices.

“In one bit, it was sold for Rs 60 crore per acre and in the remaining bits, it was sold for Rs 30 crore to Rs 40 crore. Why is it not uniform?” Revanth asked.

He also alleged that Siddipet collector had threatened the other bidders and forced them to withdraw from the bidding.

“It is evident that only those companies which had financial dealings with KCR and TRS leaders, won the bids in the auctions,” the PCC chief said.
