KTR was invited to a meet and greet event in Dallas, where members of the Telugu diaspora had the opportunity to interact with him and pose various questions about India’s development and challenges.
During this session, KTR gave fantastic answers, addressing concerns with great clarity and logic. His responses were insightful and delivered superbly, leaving a strong impression on everyone present.
KTR spoke really well in this discussion, delivering his points with clear logic and full clarity.
He denied the claim that healthcare in the USA is better than in India. He said, “I have to tell you all, guys, your healthcare system in America is no great. I'm sorry — it is terrible. Whatever the doctors say here, it is false.”
He continued to say that the public healthcare system in the USA is not strong, and in India, only the poor rely on government hospitals. Those who can afford it prefer private hospitals.
At the same time, he also endorsed the quick and easy treatment available in India’s healthcare system, unlike in the USA and UK.
He shared an incident where his friend, while at a hospital in the UK, was not treated for chest pain because he had only booked an appointment for shoulder pain.
Finally, he said, “The USA has its own problems with the healthcare system, and India has its own.”
In the process, he also shared that he has been diabetic for 20 years, but it has taught him discipline in life.
On brain drain, KTR expressed acceptance of Indian engineers and doctors contributing to the US economy, as long as “money in some fashion or shape comes to India.”
He said that there are three types of Indian immigrants in the USA; the first category came here as doctors and settled 30-40 years ago; the second category, like himself, came here to study, worked for some time, and then returned to India; and the third category is the new generation coming now.
He added, “Whoever comes, they come with an aspiration for a better lifestyle, better quality of life, and better education. People can come to the USA and earn. I have no problem with their physical presence. As long as you are mentally and financially connected to India, it is okay.”
