KTR not to allow Kavitha in Telangana politics?

KTR not to allow Kavitha in Telangana politics?

The internal rift within the family of Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) president and former Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao (KCR) continues to escalate, with his son K T Rama Rao (KTR) reportedly opposing the idea of offering any significant position in the state party to his sister, Kalvakuntla Kavitha.

According to sources, KTR made his stance clear to KCR during a meeting at the Erravelli farmhouse on Sunday.

He is said to have told his father that while he would have no objection if Kavitha were given a Lok Sabha or Rajya Sabha seat in the future, she should not be involved in state politics.

On Monday evening, KCR dispatched two close relatives — Rajya Sabha MP D Damodar Rao and senior advocate Gandra Mohan Rao — as emissaries to negotiate with Kavitha and persuade her to step back from her rebellious position.

The envoys conveyed KCR’s message, assuring Kavitha that her political future would be safeguarded and that she would be given a ticket for the 2029 Lok Sabha elections.

They also expressed KCR’s concern about the potential damage to the party from the ongoing infighting and the risks of party members acting independently.

However, Kavitha reportedly rejected the proposal outright and demanded immediate clarity about her status within the party.

She firmly stated that she intended to remain active in Telangana politics and had no interest in moving to Delhi.

She also pointed out that in the previous Lok Sabha elections, supporters of KTR had played a key role in her defeat in Nizamabad.

Kavitha warned that if the party failed to give her due importance, she would pursue her own political course.

Sources say that during the meeting, the emissaries even arranged a phone call between Kavitha and KCR.

The party chief reportedly advised her to be patient and not rush for positions. Nonetheless, Kavitha remained resolute.

Reportedly, Kavitha is standing firm on two to three key issues.

She is said to have sought clarity on her role in the party and government if BRS were to return to power, especially given expectations that KTR would be made chief minister.

She insisted on receiving concrete assurances now, making it clear to the emissaries that without such clarity, she would chart her own path independently.
