KCR to deny tickets to at least 25 sitting MLAs?

The ruling Bharat Rashtra Samithi in Telangana, headed by chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao is going all out to register the hattrick by winning the next assembly elections in the state for the third consecutive time.

However, a series of surveys conducted by the BRS leadership through various sources, revealed that it is not so easy for KCR to come back to power for the third time because of the massive anti-incumbency among the people.

KCR is understood to have got the feedback from the surveys that the people are not happy with the performance of over 25 MLAs in the state and if they are given the tickets again by the BRS, they are bound to lose the elections.

In another 20-25 seats, there will be a tough contest and even if the sitting MLAs are retained, they would have to fight a tough battle to retain their seats. So, they, too, need to be replaced with fresh faces.

However, KCR is apprehensive that if he drops these 40-45 MLAs and give tickets to new faces, there is every possibility that they might revolt against the party. Though they might not become dissidents, they would definitely not cooperate with the new candidates.

So, the BRS chief has begun the exercise to identify at least 25 MLAs, whose replacement with new candidates is very much essential, if the party has to return to power for the third consecutive term.

According to party sources, KCR is expected to call these MLAs one after the other and hold discussions with them. He will try to convince them about the need to replace them, as they do not stand a chance to win the elections again.

He is likely to promise them various other positions in the party as well as government, if they pave the way for other candidates. Some of them would be offered MLC tickets and some others corporation chairpersons, besides other cabinet rank positions.

“In any case, there is going to be massive overhaul of the party candidates before the next elections,” sources added.
