Kavitha not to contest LS polls?

Kavitha not to contest LS polls?

Till the other day, Bharat Rashtra Samithi legislative council member and party president K Chandrasekhar Rao’s daughter Kalvakuntla Kavitha had been making preparations to contest the Lok Sabha elections from Nizamabad parliamentary constituency.

She played active role in the party during the recent assembly elections and focussed on the assembly segments under Nizamabad parliamentary constituency to prepare the ground for 2024 Lok Sabha elections.

Though the BRS lost power to the Congress and lost good number of seats in Nizamabad district, Kavitha continued to visit the constituency for one programme or the other to nurture it and keep in touch with the local people.

She also took up agitations for the turmeric board in Nizamabad and staged protest demonstrations, till Prime Minister Narendra Modi made the announcement of the same during his public meeting last year.

But now, according to sources, KCR has decided against fielding his daughter in the Lok Sabha elections, apparently to avoid the talk that he continues to promote the dynasty politics.

That is the reason why he has denied the Rajya Sabha nomination to his nephew Joginipalli Santosh Kumar this time and gave the seat to granite trader Vaddiraju Ravichandra for the second successive term.

Kavitha was not invited to the Lok Sabha constituency-level meetings that the BRS conducted in the recent past, even when it was regarding the Nizamabad Lok Sabha constituency.

In all likelihood, she might continue to remain an MLC and take up the causes of women, like she has been doing at present.

Kavitha was elected to the Lok Sabha from the Nizamabad constituency in 2014, but lost it in 2019 to the BJP’s Dharmapuri Arvind.
