Bharat Rashtra Samithi president and former chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao, along with his nephew T Harish Rao, who served as irrigation minister during the BRS regime, did not get any relief from the Telangana High Court on Friday regarding the Justice P C Ghose Commission report on irregularities in the Kaleshwaram irrigation project.
A bench headed by Chief Justice Aparesh Kumar Singh, which heard the petitions filed by KCR and Harish Rao seeking to quash the Ghose Commission report, refused to pass any interim orders to stop the discussion of the report in the state assembly.
The bench directed the state government to file a counter affidavit within three weeks and also ordered that if the Ghose Commission report was available in the public domain, it should be removed immediately. The matter has been posted for further hearing four weeks later.
During Friday’s hearing, the Advocate General (AG) presented the government’s stance, stating that the report would be tabled in the assembly, after which action would be taken against those found responsible.
The AG clarified that the government intends to make decisions only after a detailed discussion in the assembly.
The high court agreed and refused to grant any relief by quashing the petitions filed by KCR and Harish Rao or by stopping the assembly discussion on the report.
