Family trouble: Ex-BRS MP sympathises with Kavitha

Senior Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) leader and former MP B Vinod Kumar on Thursday expressed sympathy toward party Legislative Council member Kalvakuntla Kavitha, saying her anguish is understandable.

“I can see how deeply Kavitha is hurt. I understand her pain and will try to speak with her to understand what exactly happened. I am confident this crisis will pass and everything will be resolved soon,” Vinod said.

He noted that political turbulence is natural and has occurred in many parties.

“The BRS is no exception. It’s neither the first nor the last party to experience such internal tremors,” he said.

Responding to Kavitha’s recent comments about an alleged conspiracy to merge the BRS with the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Vinod stated that if the BRS had any intention of joining hands with the BJP, it would have done so long ago. “But we have no such plans,” he clarified.

Interestingly, Vinod is a distant relative of the KCR family and is presumed to be aware of internal developments within the party. Yet, he claimed he only came to know about Kavitha’s grievances on Thursday.

Kavitha, meanwhile, has remained firm in her stance. Although KCR reportedly sent two emissaries — Rajya Sabha MP D Damodar Rao and advocate Gandra Mohan Rao, both close relatives — to negotiate a reconciliation, she refused to compromise.

On Thursday, she reiterated her position, stating clearly that she would not work under her brother K T Rama Rao’s leadership.
