Telangana Jagruthi president and Bharat Rashtra Samithi MLC Kalvakuntla Kavitha on Wednesday staged a dharna at Indira Chowk protesting against issuance of notices to her father and party president K Chandrasekhar Rao with regard to judicial probe into alleged irregularities in Kaleshwaram project construction.
As expected, there was not a single pink flag at Kavitha’s dharna, nor was any BRS leader or worker present there, despite the fact that she sought to pamper her father by staging the dharna to express solidarity with him.
Needless to say, there were strict instructions from the BRS leadership to the cadre not to go anywhere near Kavitha’s dharna, even though it is in support of KCR. Obviously, KCR is under the impression that Kavitha is trying to use his name to fulfil her political ambitions.
What was surprising is that Kavitha is trying to project that serving notices to KCR amounts to insulting the entire Telangana.
This is ridiculous, as analysts say the BRS leaders and now Kavitha are trying to exploit the sentiment of Telangana repeatedly over the years for personal and political gains.
“It appears she hasn’t yet come to terms with the reality that Telangana voters rejected their leadership in the last election precisely because of this kind of narrative. It is truly puzzling that she is making a constant attempt to link everything back to Telangana,” an analyst said.
In fact, the idea of calling KCR the "Father of Telangana" is fundamentally flawed. When allegations of irregularities surface, the only path is to prove innocence — no one is above the law, not even KCR.
“How is issuing legal notices to him equivalent to targeting all of Telangana? These notices weren’t served by another state or country — they were issued by a commission set up by the elected government of Telangana. These concern financial losses to a major Telangana infrastructure project — nothing more, nothing less,” an analyst said.
In the liquor scam cases too, every time she appears in court, raising a clenched fist and shouting "Jai Telangana" is meaningless. Her alleged corruption in liquor deals is personal — it’s not a conspiracy against Telangana.
She also warned Revanth Reddy to remember that Telangana was achieved only because of KCR’s raised fist, implying they’re in power now thanks to his efforts.
Fine — no one is denying KCR’s role in the struggle. But she conveniently forgets that the Telangana state was granted by the leader of Revanth Reddy’s own party.
