As the elections for the Telangana state assembly are just three weeks away, there is a lack of enthusiasm and momentum within the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).
Many senior members have left the party, and a significant number of candidates who were given tickets are newcomers and relatively weak contenders.
The party is now pinning its hopes on Prime Minister Narendra Modi to work some magic.
He is scheduled to address a public meeting in Hyderabad on Tuesday, aiming to ignite the Backward Classes sentiment and garner votes for the party.
Modi's public meeting, set to take place at Lal Bahadur Stadium in Hyderabad, has been named BC Atma Gourava Sabha, seemingly to gain political advantage from the recent announcement of selecting a Backward Class leader as the chief minister if the party wins the election.
K Laxman, BJP OBC Morcha president and Parliamentary Board member, stated that Modi would reaffirm the party's commitment to the political empowerment of the OBCs by endorsing an OBC leader as the Chief Minister. This announcement was previously made by Union Home Minister Amit Shah during a public meeting in Suryapet on October 27.
Laxman emphasized that no other party in the state dared to make such a promise since they were predominantly influenced by the upper castes.
He added, "Modi will take a step forward by assuring the BJP's commitment to upholding the self-respect of the OBCs."
Laxman highlighted that the BJP had fulfilled its commitment to the OBCs by providing more than 35 seats to OBC candidates in the three lists released so far.
Modi is expected to address another public meeting in Secunderabad on November 11, focusing on the demand for the categorization of reservations for Scheduled Castes communities.
Additionally, the Prime Minister might hold a few more meetings, one either in Gajwel or Kamareddy, where Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao is contesting, and another in Mahbubnagar or Medak.
