Who Suggested 'Amaravati' For AP Capital?

It might be Telugu Desam Party president and Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu who has taken the decision to locate the capital of Andhra Pradesh between Vijaywada and Guntur for the benefit of some influential people, as alleged by the Opposition parties.

But there is another influential person who has suggested the name of Amaravati for the new capital. And he is none other than media baron Ch Ramoji Rao.

This was admitted by the Chief Minister himself on Friday. He said when he was raking his brain for the name of the capital, Ramoji Rao had called him and suggested the name of Amaravati.

“He sent me a detailed note on the importance of Amaravati and its historical significance as the capital. And we accepted the same,” Naidu said, while releasing a book of veteran journalist Potturi Venkateshwara Rao at Vijayawada.

Well, that is Ramoji Rao’s influence on Naidu. Why can’t he use the same influence with the Centre to fetch special status to AP?
