YSRC Has No Interest In National Politics!

Telangana Rashtra Samithi has been defending the meeting between its working president K T Rama Rao with YSR Congress party president Y S Jaganmohan Reddy in Hyderabad early this week saying the meeting was meant for discussing formation of a federal front of regional parties at the national level.

However, YSRC on Saturday categorically declared that it had no interest in national politics and it was confined only to Andhra Pradesh.

YSRC general secretary Sajjala Ramakrishna Reddy said the YSRC would continue to remain Andhra Pradesh-centric and would not tail national parties for crumbs and minor political gains like Telugu Desam Party president and Andhra Pradesh chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu.

He told media that the recent talks with TRS had an orientation of states getting empowered and not meant for an electoral tie-up.

“The meeting between Jagan and KTR has been blown out of proportion and the TDP has been trying its best to project it as a major obstacle for the state development. In reality, it is only an initiative to bring states headed by regional parties together and emerge as a force to reckon with,” he said.

Sajjala pointed out that the meeting was a part of KCR’s efforts to safeguard and further the respective state interests with like-minded political parties keeping away from tailing the Congress or BJP.

“What Naidu craved for was an electoral alliance with TRS while what YSRCP discussed was the possibility of a front of regional parties coming together and mutually help one another to protect their respective state interests,” he said.
