The visit of Telangana Chief Minister K.Chandrasekhar Rao to AP's new capital city Amaravati for foundation laying ceremony on Dasara has completely changed the mindset of TRS towards Seemandhra people so much so that the party leadership is now considering to field candidates hailing from Seemandhra region in ensuing GHMC polls.
The TRS is all set to constitute division-wise committees soon to select candidates for GHMC polls expected in January 2016 and sources said clear instructions have been given to committees to identify prominent persons from Seemandhra region who settled in Hyderabad long ago and enjoy reputation among their people in their localities so that they be given tickets to contest as corporators on behalf of TRS.
The search is on for suitable candidates in wards dominated by Seemandhra people like Kukatpally, Ameerpet, Jubilee Hills, Banjara Hills and areas surrounding IT corridor.
The changed mindset of TRS towards Seemandhra people is being attributed to the warmth and good response KCR had received at Amaravati as people clapped and cheered for him though he spoke for few minutes on the occasion.
With TRS waging a do-or-die battle in GHMC elections, the party leadership does not want to take any chances which may fetch votes for TDP-BJP combine, considered to be strong on GHMC political turf.
TRS lacks a strong political base in GHMC limits ever since its inception in 2001, thanks to lakhs of Seemandhra voters, who always viewed TRS and KCR as their enemies, which the party is now trying for image makeover among Seemandhra voters.
