From Salt Satyagraha To Soil Satyagraha!

From Salt Satyagraha To Soil Satyagraha!

The Congress party has come a long way in the last one century. When Mahatma Gandhi launched Salt Satyagraha against the British government, it triggered a nation-wide agitation.

But now, when the same Congress party announced “Matti Satyagraha” (Soil Satyagraha), there is little response from the people.

Seeking to recover from the battering it had received in the last general election in Andhra Pradesh, the Congress party has come out with this innovative idea of Matti Satyagraha, to take potshots at Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who had brought just soil and water from Delhi to Amaravati, instead of special category status or special package of funds.

President of the Pradesh Congress Committee N Raghuveera Reddy said on Saturday that the 20-day-long agitational programme will begin on November 9 at Amaravati, the high profile State capital.

He and other senior leaders of the party will take part in the agitation and later the protest demonstrations will be taken up at all the district headquarters towns, except in Kadapa and Kurnool.

After Amaravati, the protest demonstrations will be taken out at Ananthapur in Rayalaseema on November 12 and 13 and later will move to the extreme North Andhra districts of Srikakulam and Vizianagaram on November 17.

The concluding programme will be held at the world famous temple town of Tirupati on November 29 where Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed an election rally during the Lok Sabha polls.

Besides the APCC chief all senior leaders will participate at all the programme across the State.
