Former AP CM Janardhana Reddy Passes Away

Former Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Janardhan Reddy died here this morning following prolonged illness.

Reddy, 80, had been undergoing treatment for neurology-related problems. He died at 5 AM.

He is survived by his wife and four sons.

Reddy, a sitting Rajya Sabha member from Andhra Pradesh, served as chief minister from December, 1990 to October, 1992.

He served as a state minister and legislator in his long political career spanning several decades.

Reddy took a tough stand against Naxalities and survived an attempt on his life by Maoists in 2007. Several senior leaders including YSRCP president Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy, Congress leaders Chiranjeevi, Raghuveera Reddy and TDP chief N Chandrababau Naidu condoled his death.
