In a major embarrassment, Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar quoted a fabricated article falsely attributed to the UK’s Daily Telegraph while praising the Pakistan Air Force (PAF) in the Senate.
The fake front page, widely shared on social media, hailed the PAF as the "undisputed king of the skies" amid tensions with India, claiming superiority in the recent Operation Sindoor.
However, local Pakistani media, especially The Dawn, quickly debunked the article as a forgery, pointing out glaring spelling mistakes and formatting errors inconsistent with a reputable publication.
The incident sparked criticism from journalists and analysts who condemned the use of misinformation during official proceedings.
Investigations revealed the image was likely AI-generated and spread as part of a broader disinformation campaign amid rising Indo-Pak tensions.
Reports suggest Pakistani state-linked social media accounts amplified doctored visuals to manipulate public perception, reflecting ongoing information warfare targeting India’s military operations.
