CCTV Alert: NRI Daughter Foils Midnight Heist

Bagalkot: A daring theft attempt in Mudhol was foiled thanks to the quick thinking of a daughter living in the United States, who spotted suspicious activity on her home’s CCTV feed and alerted her family.

Superintendent of Police Siddharth Goyal said the incident occurred around 1.20 am on August 26.

A group of four to five intruders broke into a house through a back window and stole gold ornaments from the bedroom while the family slept in the hall. The gang then attempted to target another house.

At the second house, the alarm system linked to CCTV cameras sent an alert that was noticed by the owner’s daughter in the US, where it was daytime.

She immediately called her father, Hanumath Gowda, who switched on the lights and informed the police. By the time officers reached the scene, the gang had fled.

An FIR has been registered at Mudhol Police Station. Additional SP visited the location, and a special team has been formed to investigate. CCTV footage captured partial images of the suspects.

SP Goyal said such gangs often follow a pattern by targeting houses one after another. He urged residents to remain vigilant and report suspicious activity, assuring that efforts are underway to identify and nab the culprits.
