Apple Confirms It's With India, Ignores Trump

Apple will continue to grow its iPhone manufacturing in India despite US President Donald Trump urging the company to increase production in the US.

Apple assured Indian officials that its investment plans are firm, recognizing India as a key manufacturing hub.

Currently, around 15% of Apple’s global iPhone output is made in India, with major suppliers like Foxconn, Tata Electronics, and Pegatron involved in assembly.

Foxconn has also started producing AirPods in Telangana for export. In March 2025 alone, Apple shipped 3.1 million iPhones from India, with nearly 98% going to the US market, likely to avoid tariffs.

CEO Tim Cook said most iPhones sold in the US this quarter will be made in India, while other markets will be served mainly by China, balancing production based on trade needs.

India’s IT Minister reported iPhone exports from India hit Rs 1.5 lakh crore in FY 2025, creating about 2 lakh jobs.

Despite President Trump’s concerns which he voiced out yesterday, Apple’s focus remains on India as a major manufacturing base to support exports and employment.

Apple ignores Trump's pressure on not building in India.
