2nd Wave Covid Patients Staying Longer In Hospitals

The second wave of the Covid-19 is severe by several parameters. While there is a huge surge in the increased number of patients, many are spending longer duration in hospitals unlike before.

A medical expert says, "Sometimes the viruses develop themselves as a new strain to break through the immunity shields of human bodies and that's the reason, some are getting severely infected. This is not very common but an isolated event we are observing now. Such severely infected patients are spending longer days in hospitals at present".

Much to the shock the duration spent by some patients on hospital beds is close to 25 days. This is raising several concerns. Many are worried about the hospital expenses while some are bothering about the longer number of isolated days to be spent in hospitals.

"I spent Rs 18 lakh for my father so far who has been on oxygen support from the past 12 days. He is not on a ventilator and that's the hope to bring him back home. But his infection is not yet clear and the doctors are saying that he may get well in another week", said an NRI who is in Hyderabad.

Some doctors are saying that the patients who are severely infected with Covid-19 are seen in more numbers these days. Such patients are also suffering from lung issues even after getting discharged from the hospital with a negative report of Covid-19.

The patients that are going through longer stay in hospital need a lot of mental strength and will power to cope with the atmosphere.

This is for those who have the privilege of finding a  bed with oxygen.
