YSR's Favourite Cop Joins Sharmila Party?

Retired IPS officer and former director general of police of combined Andhra Pradesh Noel Swaranjit Sen is most likely to enter politics by joining the forthcoming regional party of Y S Sharmila, daughter of former chief minister late Y S Rajasekhar Reddy.

Sen’s wife Anitha Sen, along with her son met Sharmila at her Lotus Pond office on Tuesday and expressed their intentions to enter politics. In a couple of days, Sen and his family members would join the new party, sources close to her said.

Sen, a 1968-batch IPS officer from West Bengal, was the most favourite of YSR.

Soon after taking over as the chief minister, YSR appointed him as the director general of police and he served in the post till his retirement on December 31, 2006.

Subsequently, YSR made him the chairman of Andhra Pradesh Tourism Development Corporation.

Later, Sen took to full-time activity in Christian missionaries.

In 2014, Swaranjit Sen was honoured for his integrity and service during the centennial celebrations of the National Council of Churches in India held in Secunderabad.

However, his wife Anitha Sen had a dubious background, facing allegations of involved in child adoption racket in 2001.

She used to run an adoption agency by name “Precious Moments,” without obtaining prior permission from the Central Adoption Resources Agency.

When the racket was busted by the state CID police, Anitha went underground, but later surrendered to the police and was kept in jail for some time before being released on bail.

It remains to be seen what the Sen couple would do in the Sharmila party.
