YS Jagan: A Class Apart

In this day and age when politicians resort to all and any kind of gimmicks to come to power, YS Jagan stands poles apart from his counterparts.

Look at Pawan Kalyan for instance. The gentleman said he was entering politics only to question and not for money, power or position. But recently, he was lamenting that Chandrababu had cheated him by not sending him to the Rajya Sabha as promised.

While campaigning for Praja Rajyam, he said he would quit politics if Praja Rajyam lost the elections but is here today with a rebooted version of the Party.

As for Chandrababu Naidu, the lesser said, the better. He is merely a politician who would do anything to stay in power and is not a leader though of course, his community will consider him to be one.

But YS Jagan has repeatedly proved that he is not the sort of person who will resort to opportunism to gain power.

In 2014, had he also promised the ‘impossible’ loan waiver to farmers, he would perhaps have become the Chief Minister.

With all his experience, did Chandrababu not know that it is not feasible? He certainly did but then coming to power has been the only objective characteristic of his life.

Is this not the same person who said he would contest against NT Rama Rao when he was in the Congress? Later, he switched to the TDP, took over the Party and realised his ambition.

Similarly, he promised reservations to the Kapus and a host of other weaker sections despite knowing that the Constitution will not permit it.

And now, Kapus constitute the majority of the population and their votes are extremely important for forming the government. But what does Jagan do?

Jagan speaks the truth and promises to work for the welfare of the community but frankly states that reservation is not possible as per regulations.

Although he lost the previous election for not making false promises, the defeat has not affected his principles. He still refuses to resort to opportunism for gaining power.

And that’s why, he is a leader, a class apart and in a league of his own.
