Yet Another KCR Scheme Copied In AP!

Yet Another KCR Scheme Copied In AP!

Telangana Rashtra Samithi president and chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao’s populist scheme of distributing sarees to 95 lakh womenfolk during the Bathukamma festival on the occasion of Dasara Navratri festivities was a big success.

The scheme introduced by KCR in 2017 received criticism for the poor quality of sarees, but in 2018, KCR took enough care to see that quality sarees are given to the poor women.

Though all the 95 lakh women might not have voted for the TRS, but it fetched tremendous mileage to KCR in the recent assembly elections.

Now, this scheme has also inspired the Telugu Desam Party leaders in Andhra Pradesh and is prompting them to introduce the same to lure women before the coming assembly elections.

The only difference is that if it was Bathukamma sarees in Telangana, it will be Sankranti Sarees in Telangana, since Sankranti is an important festival for Andhra people just like Bathukamma is for Telangana people.

The scheme has first caught the attention of senior TDP leader and Tadipatri MLA J C Prabhakar Reddy.

He announced the distribution of 65,000 sarees to women voters in his assembly constituency as “Sankranti” gift to womenfolk for the ensuing festival.

Prabhakar Reddy already announced that he will not fight next elections and his son Asmith Reddy will take forward the political legacy.

Reddy is trying hard to field his son as TDP candidate from Tadipatri assembly constituency.
