Hyderabad: Chiranjeevi started the Praja Rajyam amid much fan- fare only to make a U-turn and merge it with the Congress thereby putting an end to his hopes of becoming a CM.
And now, it is the turn of Lok Satta Party founder Jayaprakash Narayan to announce that his party will now function as an apolitical body and work more like an NGO. Which brings the question to the lips of the common man: Who is next? The answer could be: ‘Jana Sena’.
The one-man Party still has no organizational structure or cadre and relies solely on Pawan Kalyan’s image. Besides, Pawan has recently said that he intends to quit films after two or more final projects and enter full-time politics.
This could mean his commitment to films till 2019. Political analysts aver that this could mean Pawan Kalyan emerging as the key mascot of the BJP in 2019.
BJP is looking to establish itself in AP and is on the lookout for a strong crowd-puller. Pawan Kalyan would be a bonus in that he also belongs to the numerically strong Kapu community.
The only question is: What will he do with the Jana Sena? Well, it shouldn’t be difficult to wind up a party that does not even have an office of its own.
