Why this talk on Pattiseema, not Polavaram?

It has become a habit for Telugu Desam Party president and Andhra Pradesh chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu to talk high about Pattiseema project linking Godavari waters to Krishna, whenever people raise questions about the completion of Polavaram project on Godavari river as per the schedule.

Even when the team of officials from the Central Water Commission or Parliamentary standing committee on water resources or even Union water resources minister came to Andhra Pradesh to inspect the progress of Polavaram works, Naidu took them to Pattiseema intake point on the right canal of Polavaram and showcase it as a major achievement on Polavaram project.

He has created such an impression that completion of Pattiseema is nothing but completion of a major work on Polavaram.

On Thursday, too, Naidu sent a team of MLAs and MLCs to Polavaam project site to personally see the progress of works and interact with the officials. And the officials, as usual, took them to Pattiseema site and explained to them how the project was completed in a record time.

Since the team was led by none other than Naidu’s son and IT minister Nara Lokesh and his father-in-law Nandamuri Balakrishna, no MLA could even talk about the actual Polavaram project.

Even a couple of BJP MLAs present in the team did not get much chance to inspect and review the progress of works, as the MLAs and MLCs spent most of the time on Pattiseema, instead of at Polavaram.

And as expected, Lokesh and his father-in-law Balakrishna lavished praises on Naidu for his vision in completing Pattiseema. And nobody dared to speak on the delay on Polavaram works!
