Apparently realising that Telangana Rashtra Samithi president and chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao’s outburst and unsavoury comments against Prime Minister Narendra Modi has caused immense damage to the party, his family members are trying to do the damage control.
The state BJP leaders, who took strong exception to KCR’s derogatory comments against the Prime Minister, addressing him in singular number, brought them to the notice of the party bosses in Delhi.
Union defence minister Nirmala Sitharaman on Thursday openly lodged a complaint with KCR’s son K T Rama Rao for his father’s foul language.
KTR felt inconvenient to face Nirmala and tried to cover it up saying it could be a slip of tongue on the part of his father.
“I don’t think he would have said it intentionally,” he said.
On Friday, KCR’s daughter Kavitha also sought to play down his comments.
“He might have made the comments in a mood of anguish for farmers. Definitely, it was not his intention to use derogatory words against the Prime Minister. Mistakes do happen in spur of the moment,” she said.
She pointed out that even Modi, while speaking in Davos recently said he was elected by 600 crore people, while the entire population of India was not even 130 crore.
“I don’t know why the BJP leaders are making so much fuss about KCR’s comments,” she added.
It may be mentioned that at a meeting of the farmers’ coordination committee convention at Karimnagar on Monday, KCR used foul language against the Prime Minister and also against Congress president Rahul Gandhi.
“If Modi goes, Rahul Gandhi or some other Gandhi will become Prime Minister. What difference does it make? If that fellow comes, he talks about Deendayal or Shyam Prasad Mukherjee. If this fellow comes, he talks about Indira Gandhi and Rajiv Gandhi. ((KCR used the word “vaadu” and “veedu” here). And they boast about GDP, GSDP; vaadi bonda.. vaadi boki (their graves and their bones….),” he said.
Going further, he said: “I told Prime Minister Modi “gaadu” (Modi fellow) several times about farmers’ problems. But he can’t even give water for cultivation.”
