The decision of the Chandrababu Naidu government to restrict the proposed Metro Rail project only to Vijayawada city has drawn criticism from other political parties.
Senior Congress leader and former Speaker Nadendla Manohar on Wednesday opined that the Metro rail should not be confined to Vijayawada city.
He told media that Vijayawada would emerge as best capital, if metro rail was setup linking Vijayawada, Guntur, Tenali and Mangalagiri. It was unfortunate that an official talked limiting metro rail to a single city, he said.
Manohar pointed out that the 12th proposal of 13 Schedule of A P Reorganization Act has clearly mentioned that metro rail project would be taken up in the area of Vijayawada, Guntur, Tenali and Mangalagiri (VGTM). The State government should take it into the consideration, he added.
