Of the 13 districts in Andhra Pradesh, Uttarandhra and Rayalaseema are under developed when compared to other districts.
So, efforts were made to make sure that the new capital should be built in the area to facilitate its development.
Since Kurnool was the original capital of AP in the past, many felt that the new capital should be developed in Rayalaseema.
Similarly, many demands were put in to identify Vizag as the new capital as it is already developed and this would cut down the cost of development drastically saving crores of rupees for the government.
However, the Andhra Pradesh government is hell-bent on developing the new capital city between Vijayawada and Guntur.
Given this scenario, it is being said that leaders from Uttarandhra and Rayalaseema have been putting pressure on Babu to spell out what plans he has for their region.
In fact, demand or no demand, there is no denying the fact that Babu has the responsibility of developing both Uttarandhra and Rayalaseema.
Naturally, since Babu is now putting all his energies into developing a ‘super capital city’, providing equal justice to these regions might not be economically viable for him and his government.
So, will development in Uttarandhra and Rayalaseema remain a distant dream that is unlikely to happen any time soon?
