Walk The Talk, Naidu!

Walk The Talk, Naidu!

Speeding around in ultra-modern vehicles while speaking of alleviating poverty at the same time is a characteristic feature of Indian politicians and Chandrababu Naidu is no exception.

Barely a day goes by without the media reporting Naidu’s cries of inadequate financial assistance from the Center to a cash-starved AP. And then he expects every citizen including the poorest of the poor to contribute a ‘brick’ at least for the new capital.

Noble words indeed! But Naidu himself is apparently immune to what he preaches. He is not going to compromise on his own luxuries and privileges in the present condition of the State.

Rather, it is the people who will have to make the sacrifices. Naidu after coming to power had the CM’s chambers in the Secretariat renovated at a whopping Rs 22 crores. He then spent Rs 1 crore for solar fencing and CCTV systems for his temporary residence in Hyderabad. He also spent Rs 1.08 crore on fortifying the ‘Lake View Guest House’.

And earlier, when there was not enough money even to pay the salaries of the government employees, he had spent Rs 400 crore during Sankranthi on ‘Chandranna Sankranthi Pathakam’, an absolutely useless and populist scheme aimed at breaking free from the pressurizing legacy of NTR.

Yesterday, the government sanctioned Rs 1 crore for purchasing iphone 6 models to MLA’s another Rs 1 crore to beef up the security in the CMO in the L-Block of Secretariat.

At every opportunity, Naidu speaks of transferring the seat of governance from Hyderabad to Vijayawada. What is the point in spending so much money then on buildings in Hyderabad which will eventually go to Telangana in ten years time?
