After a prolonged gap, actress-turned-former MP Vijayashanti is all set to come back into active politics.
She gave a surprising call to the media for an informal chit chat on Thursday afternoon and declared that very soon, she was going to play active role in the Congress party.
“I have deliberately taken a break in politics on health reasons. But I have been in regular touch with the party high command.
I told party president Rahul Gandhi that I would not contest the elections and confined myself to campaigning for the party in the state, but he asked me to fight the elections.
There is still a lot of time and I will take a decision on it later,” she said.
Coming down heavily on Telangana Rashtra Samithi president and chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao, Vijayashanti said there was a big difference between KCR of the Telangana movement period and KCR as the chief minister.
“I never expected that KCR, who came from the background of running a movement, would behave like this after becoming the chief minister.
His government has been harassing even those who had fought for Telangana. He did not behave properly with popular leaders like Manda Krishna Madiga and Kodandaram,” Vijayashanti said.
She said what KCR had brought about was not “golden Telangana,” but only “ithadi Telangana” (brass Telangana).
“Please go into the people and find out about how bad the TRS rule is. The Governor has no knowledge about it,” she said.
Stating that she had to merge her Talli Telangana Party with the TRS only on the advice of Prof Jayashankar, Vijayashanti said during the movement, she had faced a lot of humiliation in the TRS.
“And KCR even deprived me of my own constituency,” she said.
