Filmmaker Aditya Dhar’s upcoming spy thriller Dhurandhar 2: The Revenge, starring Ranveer Singh, is gearing up to continue the success of its blockbuster predecessor.
While the film features a strong ensemble cast, veteran actor Anil Kapoor recently revealed that he had been offered a cameo in the sequel but had to turn it down due to prior commitments.
Speaking at the India Today Conclave, Anil Kapoor shared that Aditya Dhar had approached him for a small role in the film.
“Yes, Aditya came to me for Dhurandhar 2. He wanted me to do a small cameo in the film. But the reason I am what I am today is because of my professionalism and my commitment. That’s very important — only talent cannot make you what you are,” he said.
The actor explained that he had already committed his dates to another filmmaker at that time.
“I told Aditya, ‘I would have loved to do this cameo, but I’m already committed.’ He is releasing the film now, and it’s a fantastic film. It’s my loss, but it’s okay,” he added.
Kapoor also expressed hope that he would collaborate with Dhar in the future.
When asked whether he would appear in a potential Dhurandhar 3, the actor said he would prefer to take up something new.
“I think I will do something new. Kuch naya karunga,” he remarked.
The first installment, Dhurandhar, released in December 2025 and went on to become a blockbuster at the box office.
Directed by Aditya Dhar, the film featured a powerful ensemble cast including Arjun Rampal, Sanjay Dutt, R. Madhavan and Akshaye Khanna in key roles.
The sequel, Dhurandhar 2: The Revenge, is scheduled to release in theatres on March 19, 2026, coinciding with festivals like Gudi Padwa and Ugadi, and ahead of Eid al-Fitr.
The trailer of the film, unveiled on March 7, shows Ranveer Singh returning with fierce intensity in dual roles as Jaskirat and Hamza, promising a high-octane spy drama with deeper character arcs and a larger narrative canvas.
