Tragedy: No Action Against Erring Officials Now?

Even after the death of 27 pilgrims in the Rajahmundry Pushkaram tragedy as per official records, the Chandrababu Naidu government is unlikely to take any action against the erring officials responsible for tragedy immediately.

Minister for Endowments Manikyala Rao told media in Rajahmundry that stringent action would be definitely taken against those responsible for the negligence that resulted in the large number of deaths of innocent pilgrims, but it would be done only after the receipt of report of judicial inquiry.

As such, the officials in Rajahmundry, including the police, continued to operate on Wednesday but with utmost care.

The Opposition continued its onslaught on the Government for its 'negligence' that resulted in the stampede deaths.

YSR Congress leader and MLA Roja said that the unfortunate incident had happened due to the 'low-tech' measures of the 'hi-tech' Chandrababu Naidu.

She said in Chittoor that Naidu focused more on publicity than the safety measures of the large number of pilgrims attending the Pushkarams.

She demanded that Chandrababu resign as the Chief Minister owning moral responsibility to the incident.
