Top Cop Seeks Central Deputation

The people of the State will be quite familiar with the name of IPS officer, P Seetharamanjaneyulu, who served as Commissioner of Police, Vijayawada before taking over as IG of the elite Greyhounds wing.

Known to be a highly dynamic no-nonsense officer with a track record of numerous encounters behind him, Ramanjaneyulu was involved in a public spat with Vijayawada TDP member, Vallabhaneni Vamsi over lewd messages to a lady doctor.

Unfortunately, the whole episode only served to distract attention from the excellent track record of Ramanjaneyulu.

Following the incident, although he was put under suspension, he managed to bounce back by bagging the prestigious post of Chief of Grey Hounds.

Again, Vallabhaneni Vamsi stepped in and alleged that Anjaneyulu was trying to get him murdered by ex-Naxals, an atrocious charge without any evidence.

It became clear that should the TDP government come to power, Ramanjaneyulu would be shunted off to a non-descript post.

When Chandrababu became the CM, Ramanjaneyulu was made Director of Police Communications and Computers, a post that was specially created for him. Why will a good officer put up with such nonsense? In fact, something similar happened with Umesh Chandra as well.

The late dynamic cop was put in a similar sort of department as punishment and Umesh Chandra was so upset that he even contemplated quitting the force.

Ramanjaneyulu in this instance chose to go for central deputation and has been appointed as Inspector-General in Border Security Force for five years.

A good officer has been lost to the Centre because of narrow-minded political calculations.
