Singh Taking Political Sanyas?

Senior Congress leader and AICC general secretary Digvijay Singh, known for his controversial comments, is understood to have decided to give up all his political positions and cut himself off from active politics.

Digvijay Singh, who was sacked from the post of AICC general secretary in-charge of Telangana affairs, reportedly told the party high command that he would not continue as in-charge of Andhra Pradesh affairs, too. Earlier, he was removed as AICC in-charge of Karnataka and Goa states as well.

Apparently, Digvijay is peeved at the ill-treatment meted out to him in the party. Though he is said to be a close advisor of Rahul Gandhi, of late, the AICC vice-president is blaming Digvijay for the party’s debacles everywhere in the country.

And he has come to the conclusion that the party cannot come to power at the centre for at least another 10 years and hence, there was no point in clinging to the party till his death.

So, as part of his move to renounce politics, Digvijay is planning to go on a 3,300-km padayatra spanning over 6 months.

The padayatra will begin on September 30. It includes covering a major part of Madhya Pradesh and some parts of Gujarat. He said it was purely a religious and spiritual move with no political intentions.

“Now, it is the right time for me to start the padayatra,” he said.
