The simmering discontent in the Congress party against Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee president Ponnala Lakshmaiah is slowly erupting into an open demand for his ouster.
On Saturday, senior Congress leader and Nalgonda MLA Komatireddy Venkata Reddy demanded that the Congress High Command immediately remove Ponnala from the post.
He ridiculed the review meetings being conducted by Ponnala over party's dismal performance in recent elections. He said that such reviews would not help the party in any way.
Komatireddy asked Ponnala to immediately resign from the post in the interest of Telangana Congress.
He said that the Congress High Command should appoint a new president and encourage youth by giving them good positions in the party.
He also demanded that massive membership drive should be launched after revamping the TPCC.
