Sabbam Meets Naidu, To Join TDP

As expected, former Congress MP from Anakapalli Sabbam Hari is all set to join the Telugu Desam Party very soon.

According to sources from Amaravati, Sabbam met TDP president and Andhra Pradesh chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu at his Vundavalli residence on the night of January 1 to extend New Year Day wishes.

During the brief meeting, Sabbam expressed his desire to join the TDP and the chief minister welcomed him.

It is learnt Sabbam asked for the TDP ticket to contest from Visakhapatnam parliamentary constituency.

If Naidu had already somebody else in his mind for the MP seat, he reportedly said he was ready to contest as an MLA from Visakhapatnam (East) assembly constituency.

Sources said Naidu did not give any commitment to Sabbam for the MP seat, but responded positively to the party ticket for assembly elections from Visakhapatnam (East) constituency.

“It is only a matter of a couple of days that Sabbam would join the TDP formally,” the sources added.

In fact, Sabbam has already been associated with the TDP albeit indirectly. He has been supporting the TDP and Naidu in all the media debates for the last one year. That fetched him the positive signals from the TDP leadership.

In the past, Sabbam tried to get closer to YSR Congress party president Y S Jaganmohan Reddy, because of his loyalty to the latter’s father Y S Rajasekhar Reddy. But somehow, Jagan did not entertain him.

Subsequently, he also made an attempt to join Jana Sena, but because of the inconsistent stand of Jana Sena chief Pawan Kalyan, Sabbam remained independent.
