Revanth Gets Nod For Padayatra?

Revanth Gets Nod For Padayatra?

It has been just over a week since Kodangal MLA A Revanth Reddy has joined the Congress party. He has so far not come out with any programme of action.

He has confined himself to meeting all senior leaders one after the other and seeking their blessings for his new avatar in the Congress party.

According to sources, Revanth has put forth a proposal before the Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee and also its national leadership that he would like to take up a massive padayatra on behalf of the party to highlight the bad governance of the Chandrasekhara Rao government in Telangana.

Though there were divergent views in the party with regard to his proposal, especially among the seniors who feel that Revanth is trying to hog all the limelight in the party with his padayatra, the party leadership is understood to have felt that it was actually a good idea.

It is learnt the PCC leadership has suggested to Revanth that it is better to take up the yatra to console the families of farmers who committed suicide in the last three years, besides the families of martyrs who laid their down lives for the sake of Telangana.

“Since Revanth is very young compared to many others, it is better he is allowed to take up the yatra under the Congress banner. After all, it ultimately benefits the party,” the PCC leadership felt.

However, a final decision on Revanth’s padayatra would be taken only after getting clearance from the high command in Delhi.

May be there will be a clarity on the padayatra during the visit of AICC vice-president Rahul Gandhi, party sources said.
