Rayapati ready to quit as MP for TTD chief post!

Known for his maverick behaviour and sensational comments, Telugu Desam Party MP from Narsaraopet Rayapati Sambasiva Rao on Monday came up with yet another surprising announcement that he is ready to resign from his Lok Sabha membership.

The rider, Rayapati has given for his offer is that he should be given the post of Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams chairman post.

In a letter to TDP president and chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu, he said it had been his long-cherished dream to become the chairman of the TTD and serve Lord Venkateshwara at least for one term.

“If it is not possible as party leader to hold two posts at a time as per the TDP norms, I am ready to resign from the Lok Sabha seat.

For me, TTD chairman post is more important than the MP seat. I request you to consider my name for the TTD,” Rayapati requested Naidu.

The term of the TTD trust board came to an end last week and Naidu is planning to reconstitute the same before he leaves for the US tour on May 3.

Indications are that Rajahmmundry MP Maganti Murali Mohan may be made the TTD chief, but Rayapati does not want to give up his claim.

He has been trying for the post for the last 10 years, since his days in the Congress party, but has never got the post.
